Welcome to Vintage Guitar Amp Repairs
I specialise in repairing valve and tube guitar amplifiers from the 50s, 60s and 70s. I also restore and repair vintage solid-state amps from 60s, 70s and 80s.
On this website you can find repairs and restores that I have undertaken for customers plus some of my own projects. These projects are just some of the works I do in conjunction with my YouTube channel. Some are experiments to satisfy curiosity, questions, and myths and some are just for fun. Restoring guitar amps is not just a job for me, it is also a passion.
For me there is nothing more satisfying than to find an old valve/tube amp that needs bringing back to life. It is not just about restoring either. Some valve/tube guitar amplifiers back in the day had safety issues which need to be brought up to modern day electrical standards. This can sometimes prove challenging. It can involve drilling holes in the chassis. Some owners of valuable vintage guitar amplifiers would not be thrilled with that practice. So sometimes we must find other ways to address these things; a compromise.
If you own a vintage guitar amplifier and you are thinking of getting it restored, drop me a message.
Perhaps your vintage amp does not work, and you have had it in storage for a while or it does work but is beginning to have a few problems such as crackling or frying sounds in the background. Or it just does not sound like it did when you first bought it. It your amplifier has been serviced in the last twenty years then you should seriously think about having the capacitors changed. If one of the main power capacitors should go dead short, it could take out the power transformer. This would be catastrophic on a vintage tube amp.
If your guitar amplifier needs full restoration, then I will be happy to give you quote for labour and parts.
